"Samya" implies balance. In our practice, it represents the essential equilibrium between design ambition and technical reality, between careful planning and decisive execution, between preserving the old and implementing the new.
Samya Contracting is a principal-led construction and design practice serving Greater Victoria and the West Shore, focused on substantial renovations, additions, commercial interiors and complex existing buildings.
Our work brings pre-construction investigation, construction-informed design, consultant and permit coordination, and construction management into a continuous process. This is particularly valuable in existing buildings, where drawings and assumptions rarely tell the whole story and early decisions can determine the feasibility, cost and quality of the work that follows.
The practice is informed by more than 30 years of construction, property-development and project-management experience, spanning hospitality development, residential and commercial renovation, new construction, land-use and permitting processes, and the coordination of consultants and trades.
Samya Contracting was established in 2015 and today applies that breadth of experience to projects where thoughtful planning and practical construction knowledge need to work together.
Shaughn Jenson
Principal · Construction Manager & Designer
Shaughn's background combines practical construction experience with decades of owner-side project development and management. His involvement in construction began in the 1990s and expanded through more than a decade managing the development, renovation and improvement of commercial hospitality properties before establishing Samya Contracting in 2015.
That experience informs Samya's approach today: investigate carefully, design with construction in mind, involve the appropriate consultants and trades, and maintain continuity through the decisions that determine how a project is ultimately built.
