Custom Interior Details & Fireplace Renovation

This project brought together a series of custom interior improvements within an existing wood-trimmed residence, with much of the work centred on upgrading individual architectural elements rather than completely changing the floor plan.

The fireplace was rebuilt as a stronger focal point, with a stacked-stone surround framed by substantial stained wood side pieces and a matching mantel. The proportions and material choices were developed to work with the existing hardwood flooring and wood trim already found throughout the home.

Elsewhere, custom screen-style woodwork was incorporated into interior partitions and the stair area, introducing a lighter architectural element while maintaining the home's established use of natural wood. Samya also built a custom gate to fit the ongoing Japanese theme of the house, alongside the shoji wall hangings. Bathroom work included a wood-topped vanity, vessel sink and coordinated trim detailing.
